Neither words’ platitudes
nor slogans’ jingoism
but the choices our hands represent
& that to which our ears attend
that gratitude is modelled
Inspired by how our actions gratitude embody …
Seeing the world
in its inherent beauty
& abounding abundance
demands of us a discipline
to pierce the illusions
dictated by algorithm’s dis-ease
Inspired by orienting toward grace’s gaze …
Choices we make
decisions we follow
are the threads of the story we are
As our tale unfolds
we possess the agency to edit
in order to write well
Inspired by collectively creating a vibrant future together …

Vision, Hold fast
though chaos’ tumult
may path obscure
toward our dream’s revelation
where Love dwells
May we transform what was
into what’ll be
Inspired by trusting the journey in turmoil’s midst …
Speak into the world

caringly compassion summon
Inspired by speaking that which we would like repeated …

In consumerism’s cajoling clamour
which violence vicariously victimises
in Season Holy gratitude girds
us in Silence’s safety
& so we tender be
Inspired by being armed with gratitude’s calm …

Inspired by relinquishing our dependence on echo chambers …
It’s in this pause
where past whispers to our future
that determines Trajectory’s choice
From this in-between time
we echo throughout Time’s web
Inspired by nothing is determined until we choose …
Hello my friend! I remain a bit behind in reading all the blogs I follow.
I was taken by how you captured the essence of the tragic and troublesome issues we face as a world, with many of these amplified in the consumer-oriented focus of the Advent season.
Next time you’re in town and we get a chance to sit in a “wisdom gathering,” I’d love to hear about your process for writing these pieces… a question I’ve had percolating for many years, maybe close to the time we met, which is over a decade ago. There always seems to be so much to talk about, in amongst sharing your time with all the folks gathered.
Hi Steve,
I look forward to that conversation! Hopefully we will clarify a possible visit this winter!
Fun!
