The #MicroPoetry of the blog began as a creative practice in 2012. Using the confines of twitter’s 140 characters, this discipline has been a generative opportunity to use words to poetically muse. Starting in 2017, brief reflections became another way to explore the use of these verses as part prayer, thought, reflection, challenge or something in-between. I hope these monthly collections offer you space to be, reflect and consider how your own choices might help you and other #ShineOn.
Reflexive leadership
embraces wonder fallibility reveals
wonder creativity awakens
creativity others’ spark nurtures
so we all shall shine
Inspired by leadership shared …
Reflection
This #MicroPoetry Verse is influenced by a recent TED by Kathryn Shultz that explored fallibility as a gift and my daily email from The Enneagram Institute, which touched on self-confidence in respect to #leadership.
What’s your experience, in faith-based contexts, where leadership has been shared? What’s a great memory of where there was collective leadership emboldened by a shared goal or mission?
Success striven
misses colours vivacious
each day adorn
Agendas segment
serendipity’s fluidity
that threads
wonder
then
now
to then again
Inspired by letting go …
Reflection
We live in a 24/7 barrage in which we are inculcated to strive to the point that we lose sight of wonder that abounds.
What might it look like, if with breath drawn deep, we stopped to truly see?
Abundance beckons with unbounded potential
With compassion & humility responding
we begin to affect the world
threading diversity resilient
Inspired by abundance embraced …
Reflection
Today’s #MicroPoetry Verse arises from embracing abundance as a verb & action in the world.
Hope it resonates!
Good Morning #Winnipeg
Discord apathy’s song sings
distancing & dividing
you & me
In this our Now
3 kindness notes
a different harmony be
Inspired by kindness chosen …
Reflection
Here’s a Sunday #MicroPoetry Verse that was inspired by the idea that kindness – as an intention – is a powerful choice. Especially when I recognise the constant narrative of cynicism and apathy that is often most loud!
Thoughts?
Fear’s mantras lull
dogs eating dog
fittest survive
out think or perish
Yet in verdant green
deep oceans blue
play constant redeems
Inspired by paradox’ potential …
Reflection
This #MicroPoetry #Verse is – should I be honest – inspired by the image of the deer in the bush. It just stuck me as a comic caricature that says to the viewer, “Hello!” Joyfully it seems to me … that, in turn, got me musing #poetic …
Knowledge
regardless of retention
irrespective of access
does not fulfilment bring
Within journey reflective
Self Other meets
& wisdom dawns
Inspired by dwelling within …
Reflection
This recent #MicroPoetry #Verse arises from musing about #TheGoogle & what immense data, information and knowledge that is now accessible. In all of that gift – some may call noise – self-knowing, awareness and consciousness-awakening continues to be dependent upon the integration of the practice of intention reflexive reflection.
What do you think?
It is conveyed in this #140Character verse?
Being in this Now
present to truly see one another
requires an intentional orientation
to dispel control’s illusion that complacency weaves
Inspired by excuses released …
Reflection
This latest #MicroPoetry #Verse is inspired by a connexion that was shared with me about how excuses allow us not to be present in the moment. In turn, that got me to musing about how control, as an ‘excuse,’ might foster a sense of not being here, right now, in this moment.
What do you think?
Does the 140 character poem and image convey that?
Remember
joy in existence
Recall
life in satisfaction exquisite
Rise
resilience in connexion
Realise
peace in compassion
Respond
be Light
Inspired by responding …
Reflection
This #MicroPoetry #Verse arises from the lament & gnashing of teeth that has begun to rise. I am most sympathetic to the anxiety and fear and subsequent need to act: in fact acting is how we #BeTheChange. There seems to also be an undercurrent that worries me on a ‘caring for Other’ level.
Holding onto the anxiousness & ‘righteous indignation’ can devour us. How do we be in the struggle without thinking we either own it or without us, justice will never come? How do lightly, with humility and compassion, engage in this human shadowed world without becoming that which we are called to protest?
What do you think? Helpful? Where do you find hope in fear’s midst?
Your reflections are most welcome!
