The #MicroPoetry of the blog began as a creative practice in 2012. Using the confines of twitter's 140 characters, this discipline has been a generative opportunity to use words to poetically muse. Starting in 2017, brief reflections became another way to explore the use of these verses as part prayer, thought, reflection, challenge or something in-between. I hope these monthly collections offer you space to be, reflect and consider how your own choices might help you and other #ShineOn.

How do we unsettle power when rules are built on fear and fatigue?
We learn that shared delight can interrupt control by refusing despair. When we laugh, sing, and care in public, we declare that people matter beyond productivity or profit. Such practices build solidarity, sharpen courage, and keep imagination active. We act together from abundance rather than grievance, choosing life over compliance. In this way, joy becomes a quiet, daring politics, sustaining hope and inviting change. By protecting communal happiness, we undermine systems that depend on silence, shame, and exhaustion, and nurturing futures grounded in shared care together always.

Reflection
We are shaped by moments that widen our sight and stir our resolve. From shared awareness, responsibility demands movement, not delay. We choose to act over indifference and courage over silence, knowing that attention leads to action; to healing. Such stance calls us to stand up, speak clearly, and protect what sustains Life’s universal dignity. When conviction guides us, choices become decisive and generous, strengthening community and resisting harm. We step forward with confidence, trusting that deliberate action can reshape habits, restore trust, and build a future marked by appreciative astonishment, justice, and shared hope for all.

How do we slow down enough to notice what gives our lives meaning?
We know that busy days and easy habits can pull us away from what matters most. Often, we move through life on routine, rather than with care. Yet there is a quiet sense that life carries purpose beyond speed or success. When we choose to stop, listen, and act with honesty, clarity grows. We learn that our worth is already present. From that place, we turn outward, offering time, kindness, and courage, sharing hope through service, welcome, and steady action in our communities.

We notice how hostility often seeks uniformity, pressing difference toward quiet agreement. When fear drives public life, varied voices risk being reduced, flattened, or ignored. Yet shared practice can answer cruelty without copying it. Through patience, listening, and mutual care, collective life regains balance. Distinct gifts remain visible while the clarity of our purpose comes into focus. Justice deepens when many contributions move alongside one another, neither erased nor forced alike. Hope emerges through steady cooperative commitment that refuses domination. As we choose intention over noise and care over contempt, community learns again how we can flourish together through courage, humility, responsibility, and solidarity.

How do we choose a life shaped by generous attention to one another?
We learn that shared life grows when care is given without bargaining or fear. Even when harsh speech seeks to narrow hope, we can answer with open hands and steady courage. Joy becomes a practice as we act for the good of neighbours, trusting that what we give returns in changed community. We are strengthened by choosing welcome over suspicion, patience over haste, and grace over defence. In this way, we discover that flourishing is never solitary but built together through daily choices to act with generosity of spirit and hope that abides in one another.

May we choose courage amid broken systems harming communities. We speak together, resisting comfort that protects harm to others. Shared anger, guided by care, becomes our response to repair rather than destroy. We stand alongside neighbours, knowing change grows through relationship, risk, and voice. When quiet agreement sustains cruelty, we must challenge honestly to open pathways toward dignity. We act neither alone nor above others, instead as companions whose futures intertwine. Hope emerges through persistence, accountability, and mutual trust. Such commitment demands sacrifice, patience, and attention. Through collective action, we nurture healing, fairness, and belonging, shaping a just and common good.

How do we stay attentive when hardship presses close and voices cry out around us?
We recognise a shared calling to act with care, courage, and steady resolve.
We are shaped for service, not withdrawal, and for generosity rather than fear.
When strain seeks to quiet compassion, we choose presence and intentional kindness.
We move together, offering time, skill, and patience, trusting that small actions matter.
By standing with one another, we strengthen community and affirm dignity.
In choosing response over indifference, we help restore confidence, purpose, and hope where it has been thinned, through commitment, attention, and shared responsibility.

Memory shapes peace by teaching us how to respond when harm occurs. When we remember honestly, we name suffering without letting it rule us. Shared remembrance slows blame and opens space for learning. It passes wisdom from one generation to the next, reminding us that restraint, patience, and care have ended conflict before. When memory is held together, not used as a weapon, it grows empathy and responsibility. We learn to choose repair over revenge and dialogue over force. In this way, memory steadies conscience, guides judgement, and helps our communities build a calmer, juster future for across our interconnected lives.
