The #MicroPoetry of the blog began as a creative practice in 2012. Using the confines of twitter’s 140 characters, this discipline has been a generative opportunity to use words to poetically muse. Starting in 2017, brief reflections became another way to explore the use of these verses as part prayer, thought, reflection, challenge or something in-between. I hope these monthly collections offer you space to be, reflect and consider how your own choices might help you and other #ShineOn.

As Creation’s cycle flows
as birth leads to growth
Life’s constancy is learning
until we return to our Source
where our soul will wisdom revel
Inspired by pursuing the Soul’s purpose to grow …

What does it mean to truly grow? Growth is an intrinsic part of existence, a journey that encompasses learning and transformation. It is through the experiences and challenges that we face that we gain deeper understanding and insight. This continuous process of development is not merely physical but also spiritual, guiding us towards our greater purpose. The essence of growth lies in the pursuit of wisdom and the fulfillment of our potential. As life unfolds, each moment becomes an opportunity to evolve, to connect with the deeper truths of existence, and to ultimately find harmony with the Universe.

Though we’re lovingly fashioned
to one another companion
so our blessing share
On what we focus
beauty or violence
is what we in one another see
Inspired by knowing we are reflections of each other …

What if the way we see others is shaped by what we choose to nurture within ourselves? When attention is given to compassion, patience, and hope, those qualities begin to echo in the relationships that surround us. Conversely, when fear or resentment takes root, it can cloud perception and distort connexion. The lens through which we view the world becomes a mirror, reflecting not only external realities but also our internal landscapes. In communities, this dynamic shapes collective experience—either fostering harmony or deepening division. This invitation, then, is for us to be intentional about what we cultivate inwardly, knowing it inevitably shapes what is seen outwardly.

Some wounds run deep
to a place where soul meets spirit

What if healing is not about erasing pain, but about discerning—through care and difficulty—what might emerge from it? There is a sacredness in the wake of hardship, a quiet unfolding where transformation stirs. In that space, the human spirit does not merely recover; it reshapes, reimagines, and reclaims its integrity. The journey through suffering often reveals a deeper capacity for compassion, connexion, and courage. Growth is not defined by the absence of struggle, but by the willingness to meet it with openness. What once fractured possess to possibility to become the very ground from which new strength and wisdom rise.

The doctors who spin
& smiths who wordplay
tell tales undermining our agency
We are storytellers
the narrative in which we long
is ours to tell

What happens when we collaboratively reclaim the authority to shape our shared understanding of the world? When we recognise our capacity to construct meaning, we resist imposed narratives and begin to author our own truths. This act of self-definition becomes a quiet revolution—an assertion that identity and purpose are not dictated by external voices but emerge from within our communities and shared experience. In this space, imagination becomes a tool of liberation, and storytelling transforms into a practice of empowerment. The collective becomes a chorus of voices, each contributing to a more authentic and inclusive vision of what is and what could be.

Our community
more than any one person

What does it mean to be truly courageous in a world that often rewards isolation?
Strength and courage often arise not from solitary resolve but from shared commitment. When we offer our unique contributions to a common goal, we create a resonance that surpasses personal ambition and resists the pull of self-interest. This shared endeavour cultivates endurance, sparks innovation, and invites transformation that belongs to all. In such unity, difference is not erased but uplifted—each voice adding depth and richness. The future shaped by this kind of collaboration is not only more inclusive but also more enduring, woven from the many threads of collective purpose.

Equilibrium’s solace can seem elusive
as attention is pulled thither & hither
it’s easy to forget that the Cosmos
holds us in gracious balance
Inspired by balance the Universe models …
Reflection
In our constructed world shaped by relentless motion and noise, our longing for inner steadiness becomes both urgent and sacred. Balance isn’t the absence of movement but the grace to remain centred amid shifting demands. It emerges through cultivated stillness, deep listening, and trust in the unseen threads that bind all things. As we begin to move with this rhythm, clarity becomes less a moment and more a way of being. Such harmony invites a fuller awareness of self and place, nurturing resilience and compassion. It opens space for more intentional presence and a gentler, more grounded engagement with the world.

Finery’s illusion

Reflection
True beauty emerges not from what is worn or owned, but from the quiet strength of humility. When the pursuit of recognition and material gain fades, a deeper clarity arises—one that reveals the sacred within. In letting go of the need to impress or dominate, the soul finds space to breathe and reflect its original and eternal light. This transformation is not about loss but about uncovering what has always been present beneath the surface. In stillness and surrender, the essence of being is no longer hidden. It is here that the Holy is not only seen, but known

A path winding among lessons
hard & easy
revealing our Blessing
we are meant to share
Inspired by the invitation to always learn & grow …
Reflection
What if apathy’s comfort is the very thing that slows transformation? When ease becomes routine, it can quietly dull the desire to stretch beyond the familiar. Growth calls for movement, for the courage to face uncertainty and lean into change. It is shaped by both challenge and grace, each revealing deeper truths about purpose and our connexion to Creation. Choosing to engage rather than retreat into safety’s illusion opens the way for becoming—not as a thing to be attained, but as a continual unfolding. The invitation is to awaken again and again to the sacred work of living more fully, more intentionally, and more courageously.
Your reflections are most welcome!
