Letting Go … Letting Love
I have the great pleasure to have been blogging since 2008. The practice started as The United Church of Canada began to imagine ways it might speak to those with whom it shares similar values, such as social justice, environmental concerns and relations with First Nations, yet were not in relationship. Since then, I have been humbled to have met and connected with people from around the world for whom A Deacon’s Musing has been of interest.
I welcome you, therefore, to A Deacon’s Musing‘s home. Take a look around and hopefully you will find something of interest. If you are a current reader and seeker, I hope this feels like a new place to continue our ongoing conversation. #MicroPoetry|December ’21 Reflections
The #MicroPoetry of the blog began as a creative practice in 2012. Using the confines of twitter's 140 characters, this discipline has been a generative opportunity to use words to poetically muse. Starting in 2017, brief reflections became another way to explore the use of these verses as part prayer, thought, reflection, challenge or something in-between. I hope these monthly collections offer you space to be, reflect and consider how your own choices might help you and other #ShineOn.

Too often it seems that words and images are placed against one another. The gift of a meme, when hopefully done well, is that the word and the visual serve to complement and enhance one another in a way that either one or the other - on their own - is unable to fully convey meaning. I hope, therefore, that these mash-ups of #MicroPoetry and their original accompanying image amplify meaning that one or the other could not fully convey!

There are the images used throughout 2021 for A Deacon's Musing. I hope that the visuals chosen speak to the words used in each blog. Just as importantly, I hope they not only complement the various musings, but add a depth to them that words alone may be inadequate to fully express!
Domestic & Foreign Policy
This Reflection was offered during Fall 2021 gathering of St. Andrew’s College ‘s College Board of Regents. It explored the change context in which the College found itself and engaged the metaphor or domestic and foreign policy to situate St’ Andrew’s commitment to deepening partnerships with the Saskatoon Theological Union (STU).
