Winter’s Night

'Ice'd Reflection'

‘Ice’d Reflection’

1.
The wind has blown
& I have been scoured clean
The snow has ripped
& I am laid bare
Winter speaks
& I am fearful
to look into the reflection
peering back from polished ice
2.
Sun sets and the Three beckon
I long for hearth’s warmth
yet cannot ignore the summons
Telltale triumvirate tells the way
through snow set paths
I wander
resisting that to which I know
reply I must
3.
Moon crests cobalt clouds
Casting colourless light
across whitened world
She flies above me
through me
into me
Tears freeze on ruddy’d cheek
as I know that toward which I trudge
is my Awakening
4.
Moon crests cobalt clouds
Casting colourless light
across whitened world
She flies above me
through me
into me
Tears freeze on ruddy’d cheek
as I know that toward which I trudge
is my Awakening
5.
Upon banked snow
Standing in grey-scale’d lunar landscape
fear grips
Temptation to return
from whence I have come arises
6.
Then Word emboldens
spoken upon night owl’s call
Wisdom drifts
amongst outstretched
dormant limbs
I follow
7.
There in Winter’s Night
upon my soul’s struggle
ego faces the Holy
In frigid fright
with breath drawn deep
into ice’d reflection
I peer
8.
Epiphany dawns
Cords cut loose
I finally see
The shine within
The light that pervades
The cosmos abounds

9.
There in Winter’s night
I finally see me
I finally see You
I finally feel
I finally know
That I am You
You am I
We are We

Thanks once more Sita! Sometimes the nuances of poetry can allow for a more precise voice. I know that may seem paradoxical and yet it seems to fit 🙂

Richard, it has been years since I have seen snow, while I dont miss being cold your verses remind me of the beauty that exists even in winter. Thanks
