#MicroPoetry|October ’14 Verses

Every month I tweet #MicroPoetry! In 140 characters, they are part prayer, thought, reflection, challenge or something in-between. I look forward to sharing them with you and hope that they may lead to reflection, musing and perhaps even discussion!

Fallow dawns
Timber slumbers
Harvest rich bounty abounds
Reflection hearth-side begins
For what shall
we give thanks?

Each of us
a letter forming her words
creating sentences of sounding meter
that begin but one poem
of the Poet’s art

Dreams heart’s wish
Ideas mind’s potential
When divided
faith & reason harm
When united
possibility abundantly blooms

Into stories
we dance
Truths meet
as partner or rival
In this movement
rhythm or cacophony
our footwork negotiate

Logic legibly longs
Subjectivity subverts stability
Riddles persist
as to wrong & right
Yet tender actions guide

Lives unfold
Paths followed
At the cross roads
forked this way & that
by what criteria do you choose?

Communities gather
In reflection & listening
words evolve meaning
context defines potential
that which was not
now Is

Water illusion cast
Placid belies currents deep
Tidal like
joys, fears
sorrows & hopes
churn beneath glass veneer

Honour&Privilege
Intention&Manipulation
Word play
dances
wrestles
Yet without honest
dialogue
listening
they polarise

Don’t tell me who I am: ask
Don’t tell me what I want: ask
Who I might be
begins in community
nurturing new awakening

In community
vulnerabilities shared
hurts heard
In community
awakening begins
when ego released
& compassion embraced

Good Morning #Winnipeg
May this day bring you space to breathe
amidst the bustle that often distracts

Stories aren’t singular
with but one trajectory
Multiple plots thread us
& in our shared narrative
awakening begins

On high ground
easy answers
& censure clear
In community
understanding dawns
as silent words
listening accompany

And we weep
Children lost
& souls ache
Numbed by future unsure
May reflection’s pause
make space
for wisdom’s dawn

Good Morning ‪#‎Winnipeg‬‬‬‬‬
May this dawning day
reveal our connexions
& guide us to nurture
diversity & dignity

Privilege & preference
leave some out & some in
Do questions invite or label?
When lives intersect what’s assumed?

No matter tendencies
to classify, quantify & pathologise
We shine
when embracing differences
by nurturing diversity

Celebrities chatter
Politicians pontificate
Heroes hail
In distraction
community’s creating caring
healing happens
