Letting Go … Letting Love
I have the great pleasure to have been blogging since 2008. The practice started as The United Church of Canada began to imagine ways it might speak to those with whom it shares similar values, such as social justice, environmental concerns and relations with First Nations, yet were not in relationship. Since then, I have been humbled to have met and connected with people from around the world for whom A Deacon’s Musing has been of interest.
I welcome you, therefore, to A Deacon’s Musing‘s home. Take a look around and hopefully you will find something of interest. Advent|4 Reflections
As the season of Advent dawns and moves toward Christmas, there is much upon which to reflect. This time of preparation, during four December weeks of journeying toward the Christmas moment is a blessed time. It can also be fraught with the pressures to consume and perform. I offer, therefore, in this Advent season, four brief reflections that begin with each weekly Advent theme: hope, peace, joy, and love. May their unfolding lead you to feel gratitude for yourself as a blessing and, in turn, recognise the same in the Other.

Advent: It’s time to wait. For whom are we waiting? As Christians, we say that is Jesus! This is a Holy Time in our Christian calendar when we might make space for reflection, silence and – hopefully – confront some of the import of the choices that lay before us.
