#MicroPoetry|July ’14 Verses

Every month I tweet #MicroPoetry! In 140 characters, they are part prayer, thought, reflection, challenge or something in-between. I look forward to sharing them with you and hope that they may lead to reflection, musing and perhaps even discussion!

A Poet’s teaching:
In clamouring cultural cacophony
silence soothes
In disdain’s dogmatic display
compassion counsels

Saturated land weeps
Drowned seed withers
Harvest hope hobbled
May earth’s stewards
know care & gratitude abundant

Forget & Forgive
Fragments from former fractures
One denies memory
One healing potential
May we step with intention

History’s teaching
spirals from the unknown
to discernible patterns
In order’s recognition
Wisdom is born

Wonder is born in awe
& curiosity perceives things anew
Eyes spy a threaded weave
embracing diversity’s spectrum

Sullied secrets seethe
Abuse avoided accumulates
In places where darkness seeps
May truth sow safe space

Shunned & Judged
Ridiculed & Bullied
Realities true
Realities oft avoided
May all who see
stand in the way
& be Light

Leadership:
speaks through listening
Mentorship:
humility tempers ego
Discipleship:
compassion extends boundlessly

The Poet weeps
as we weaponise words
& militarise metaphor
Yet She pens
a new poem
in variant meter
called ‘Choice’

Words rationalise
Words recriminate
Yet children die
Mothers weep
When violence ferments
Peace’s choice dawns

Reaching in darkness
stretching through humus
green shoot breaks horizon
rising
reaching
soon colour will blaze

Angry voices
threatens to overwhelm reflection
Agenda positioning
threatens to overwhelm listening
May compassion
guide difficult choices

Inevitably we’re Left Behind
Those we’ve loved & loathed go beyond
& in our loss we learn from or limit their legacy

Life’s signature
broadcast from bound elements
to colour reflecting starlight
in rainbow cascades
is wonder inspired

Screen flickers
Images horrendous shock
Tears long to fall
Hands reach to hold
Into the maelstrom
may we walk
confident in the
Light we bear
